This March 19th will be out 2 year wedding anniversary. Looking back, planning my wedding was by the far the most stressful thing I have ever done. Sometimes I wish we had just gone to the city hall, and had a small, simple and quick ceremony alone. Even so, our wedding was beautiful and represented our personalities perfectly.
When we got married, our daughter was already a 1 year and half old, so we opted for a more non-traditional, and non-denomination ceremony. I walked alone down the aisle about 3/4 of the way and stopped. The hubby walked up to meet me, and we walked the remaining together hand in hand. Our ceremony was very quick and simple. I simply took very traditional vows, and cut out all parts that were related to any sort of religious belief.
The ceremony was held in the same venue, we went with a black and white theme with purple accents. Our first dance was to Bruno Mars, “I think I want to marry you”. We had classical music playing during dinner, but once dinner was done, it was time to party. We did not have another slow song till the very last song. Our gift to the guests was a Photo booth with props, and each guest could take home their photo strip. I wanted my guests to walk away from our wedding saying “That was fun!”Everyone getting down to dance. My favorite picture from the day!
Overall my wedding day was a perfect day and there isn’t much that I would have changed. To all those currently planning, Good Luck!
Next month my hubby will be traveling to Austin, Texas to visit with co-workers at the corporate building since he works from home now. I have never been to Texas, and have decided to take this opportunity to tag along with him. We will only be going from Monday-Thursday. It’s a short vacation, but I will be taking time off from work, and Little Miss will be staying with the grand-parents, so it’s a lot to juggle and manage in order for us to even go. Since the Hubby will be working during the days, I will be left to do as I please during the day. As sad as it is, I have never walked around a city alone, especially one that I have never been to before. This will be my first experience navigating around alone. I usually just let the hubby tell me where to go or which train to jump on. I am nervous, yet also excited. I don’t want to plan the whole thing, because you never know what will happen. But I would like some ideas in my back pocket, so I have some direction.
Here are a few things that look worth checking out:
- The Blanton Museum of Art
- Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum
- Cathedral of Junk
- Mayfiled Park Cottage and Gardens
As far as food goes; I want really good quality BB-Q and Mexican, but I have no idea where to start.
So I am looking for help and advice on what I should do/see/eat while I am in Austin. I know that I am staying close to the University of Austin, so if you have any recommendations for anything that is worth checking out in close proxsimity, please help me out.
