Apple Pie

For Thanksgiving this year, I contributed three desserts: Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie and Oreo Pops. Here is how I made the Apple Pie. Recipe Here!

2 Pre-Made Pillsbury Pie Crusts
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
6 cups of peeled, bite-sized cooking apples
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp water
Coarse sugar

  1. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F. Ease pastry circle into a 9-inch pie plate without stretching it; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl stir together granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add apples and, toss gently to coat. If apples lack tartness, add lemon juice. Transfer apple mixture to pastry-lined pie plate. Trim pastry even with pie plate rim.
  3.  Place second pastry circle on filling. Fold top pastry edge under bottom pastry. Crimp edge as desired. In a small bowl combine egg and the water. Brush pastry with egg mixture and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  4. Cover edge of pie loosely with foil. Bake for 40 minutes; remove foil. Bake about 20 minutes more or until apples are tender and filling is bubbly. Cool on a wire rack about 2 hours to serve warm, or cool completely.
