Statue of Liberty

Our cruise was docked at Pier 88 on the Hudson River, so as we were leaving the river we sailed past the Statue of Liberty and I was able to capture a few good shots of her. Visiting her up close is on my bucket list. Here are my favorite:

“The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924 and restored for her centennial on July 4, 1986. After Hurricane Sandy, Liberty Island reopened to the public on July 4, 2013.”  <<http://www.nps.gov/stli/index.htm
